Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with at least one (1) year of experience successfully managing a small project or phases of a larger project.

Job Description

Reporting to the UT Health Clinical Information Officer, the Health-IT Project Manager serves the global strategic needs of stakeholders across the clinical enterprise. Accordingly, the Health-IT Project Manager must deliver business outcomes while executing initiatives across a myriad of verticals. Projects will encompass several disciplines that include, but are not limited to, implementations, hardware platforms, application upgrades, workflow assessments and re-engineering, support, operations, business, vendor, applications, and application interfaces. The Health-IT Project Manager will drive the execution of medium to large-scale projects, utilizing standardized project management tools and methodologies to bring projects to successful outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

MS Project Server experience preferred; otherwise, experience with other standard project management and office automation tools highly desired. Understanding of current trends and strategies in healthcare and their application to information technologies is preferred. Experience with Epic is preferred.

Leads projects and teams through all phases of assigned projects – charter construction, goal setting, work plan development, resource/team needs, budget management and risk assessments and mitigation strategies.

Partners with project sponsors, senior leaders, and key stakeholders to determine goals and priorities. Provides coaching and direction to multi-disciplinary teams as well as works collaboratively with all levels of staff in achieving desired outcomes.

Gathers lessons learned with project teams to review project success and areas requiring improvement for future projects and services. Maintains knowledge of the healthcare industry and project management methodologies.

Tracks project metrics regarding performance of projects, as well as tracking quantitative metrics to ensure that projects meet defined operational metrics. Ensure smooth and efficient transition of projects from project team to operational owner at completion of the project.
