As Material RequirementPlanning Supervisor at Caterpillar, you will supervise the material planningand functions for the facility, ensuring material availability and POUavailability and drive disciplined inventory systems usage and collaborationwith material suppliers.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limitedto:

  • Plans and directs the material planning and material logisticfunctions to meet the facility plan objectives and satisfy customer needs

  • Interfaces with Operations, Business Resources, GlobalPurchasing, Suppliers, Logistics, Engineering and worldwide Cat facilities

  • Plans, initiates, and maintains a material procurementprocess that establishes and achieves the least total cost, best quality andtimely delivery for facility material purchases from internal/externalsuppliers

  • Manages inventory and record accuracy through monitoring shortage /surplus exception, supplier follow ups, negative on-hands and daily deliveryperformance

  • Develops and directs internal/external material flow planninginvolving multiple facilities or extremely complex material flow plans.Implements complex supplier and interplant material supply plans

  • Meets production and parts requirements while optimizinginventory levels, lot sizing, lead times, packaging, and transportationcosts

  • Works directly with facility Supply Chain Planning Engineersto create the plan for every part

  • Provides leadership and integration support in thedevelopment of material logistics plans, working closely with multiple supplychain functions, including supply chain planning, supply chain performance,logistics and operations

  • Acts as liaison between external suppliers, supply chainperformance and supply chain planning to drive optimized flow plans and tosupport increased material velocity

  • Responsible toachieve PQVC targets across Inventory Level / Turns, point of use availability,inventory record accuracy, freight and scrap budget compliance

  • Provides direct support to manufacturing operations throughmanaging incoming requirements and scheduling of production work orders

  • Acts as a subject matter expert to support facility Sales andOperations Planning, and actively participates in facility Sales and Operationsplanning

  • Leads projects driving the implementation of improvedsupply-base management

  • Provides high level of supplier relationship managementleadership

  • Leads facility projects that identify and implement methodsto assure suppliers are meeting Caterpillar's technological, communication,material delivery, financial management, and quality needs

  • Leads project teams implementing supplier-quality improvementefforts, Six Sigma projects and Lean Events as required

  • Selects, trains and assists direct reports while providingcareer guidance and opportunity for added experience and training

  • Supervises Supply Chain Development program participants,ensuring a robust developmental experience in alignment with the standardrotation requirements

  • Develops staff skills by focusing on evaluative / analyticalthinking, innovative approaches to problem solving and team building

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • College or university degree related to Supply Chain, orequivalent experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of increasing responsible supply chainexperience

  • Knowledge and/or experience in material planning / control,purchasing, parts distribution, inventory control, manufacturing engineering,operations and transportation or logistics

  • Strong analyticaland problem-solving skills.

  • Develop and deploycreative / original solutions to complex problems

  • Able to workindependently with minimal direction

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • APICS CPIM or CSPC National Certification

  • Experience in Material Planning and 6 Sigma

  • Advanced interpersonal, negotiation, communication andleadership skills
